apprentice tax credits

Am currently in phase 4 of my apprenticeship and have been told that while I am in college for the 11 weeks I can claim tax credits for those weeks that I have been out of the tax system,just wondering I would go about claiming this

Assuming your pay is on the normal basis of taxation it should be automatically done through payroll when you return to work

I'm just back from phase 6, easiest way to think of it is that when you get back to work you'll essentially be tax free for 10/11 weeks, that's how my employer works it out anyway
