Chimney Opening Question

    Hi guys,

Finding this forum very helpful and hoping some of you may be able to help with a query we have.

We are in a semi detached house, living room has a chimney which we are hoping to put a solid fuel burning stove into. The problem is, the fireplace is not directly over the flue (it's got an electric fireplace unit in it at the moment) The chimney breast is I think shared with the house next door, so our opening is left off centre. My question is, is it possible to leave the fireplace in it's current position but to feed a pipe from the opening to the back of the stove at an angle? Or is it a case that the stove has to be directly connected straight, up the chimney?

I'll get pictures tomorrow if it helps? Sorry, trying to describe it as best as I can.

Just to go full circle on this, we got Maynooth Stoves to come out and take a look and unfortunately, there is a lot of work in it. Due to the fact that the chimney itself is off centre to the chimney breast, we're talking a job of having to extend the breast on one side so that the fire place will sit in the middle, ultimately, this could look naff so it's something we're going to put on the back burner for now (no pun intended)
