I was looking at a section of legislation
The maximum penalty was as above. Surely there should be a better link between monetary punishments and imprisonment time

Is there any index linking of fines, so a large amount in '63 ends up being a large amount in '14?

Have you checked for amendments to the sentencing provisions?

As above, non-categorised fines can generally be increased on foot of a ministerial order, usually provided for by the Act in question but sometimes legislated for specifically elsewhere.
