Right lads, basically I'll be going away for two weeks in August and while I want to stay in shape and have some resistance work over there, I don't fancy being a few kettle bells on a Ryan Air flight...
I was thinking of something like TRX except without the stupid price tag (may use it again while away but not at home) simply because it will be light and compact for throwing in the bag, or even one in each bag as my GF would be most likely using it too.

So I've had a look on Amazon and I'm seeing €100 as a standard, I'd ideally like to pay €20-€40. All I want is the basic strap and ring.
Can anywhere advise on when to buy from? Either onlie or in Dublin, don't mind which.

Or even, would I be better off making them myself?

Thanks for reading my rambling, hopefully someone can comprehend and advise.
    :)

You could try the likes of donedeal or adverts for a second hand one, just be careful of fakes.
Do you know anyone who has a trx or olympic rings you could borrow?

I was just about to post this too.

I bought handles, webbing and lifting straps from amazon for less than 15 euro. You could easily use it all to make a suspension rig. I used mine to make a pull up station.

If you get your hands on the Lidl 1's they're €20 & IMO better than TRX straps.... I have a good few sets of each!

    Cheers everyone.
Personally I'd be into making my own, if even just for the fun of it but herself reckons what ever I make would break and leave to to fall a foot to the ground.

So at that, I'm thinking a set of Gym Rings.
These look the job and the shop is fairly local, any reason I shouldn't?
Seem to be the best deal around, considering there's no rediclulous shipping charge if I pick them up.

20 quid is hard to argue with but you'd be surprised how easy to make and solid they are. It's really just a length of webbing. And you wont overload that. I think the stuff I got was tested at 1 ton and cost a fiver. Lifting webbing straps have a handle built in so it won't break. Well not a handle but a loop to hold.

I really don't know what else a trx does that it can't be replaced by a 3m length of sturdy Web or rope with a handle on the end.

Edit. Not really sure why I thought the rings you're looking at were 20 quid. But there are sets o n amazon which are in that range and seem fine. Shipping is minimal with parcel motel.

Any gymnastic rings will be sufficient instead of trx I'd assume.

They just put trx in my gym. I really should take a good look to see what the fuss is.

Thanks again for all the advice everyone, I ended up with a nice set of Gym Rings for €25 from Gymless on Adverts.ie.
the rings themselves are a but rough on the hand but I have some road bike bar tape around so I'll throw that on to add comfort and better grip. Great job. :)

I'm now on google earth stalking the beach for a suitable tree to use an playing with the idea of fixing some sort of frame in my bed room.
It's never just one purchase is it? :p
