Marine Science NZ

Just on the off-chance, does anyone know what the prospects are like in NZ for Marine Science (particularly Marine Bio)?
I'm not on any skills shortage list, but NZ struck me as a place fairly invested in their marine environment.
When I look though, most jobs seem to be in agriculture or are very terrestrial - DOC rangers and such. I could just be looking in the wrong places, however.

Does anyone on here know anyone who works in this field?
I'm coming over on a 1yr IEP visa soon , and I wanted to scout out more permanent job prospects and PhD opportunities while there.
