Fog lights fitted but not working, nct fail?

Am yay 08 Laguna has front fogs, but it appears that the light stalk on the steering column was replaced with the wrong one with no option to turn on the front fogs, it will turn on the rear.

Can any one tell me if this will mean the car will pass the nct? I intend on getting a new indicator stalk, along with some other interior pieces but not until May when I get paid! My plan is to service the car and send it for nct this month, but if it will fail on not being able to turn the fog lights on, then I'll need to wait till May to get it tested, not big deal maybe, but I generally like being up to date on all things like this.

I would say no. I have front fogs on mine that don't work and I've gone through several NCTs without a problem.

Front fog lights are not a requirement for the NCT. Plenty of cars don't have them.

So that would be a yes, it'll fail then?

Seems a bit stupid, but no surprise there. Seeing as in the year I've had the car there has been one morning where I've needed either fogs, and even then it was only for 1 or 2 km.

We had a '00 Micra doing the NCT three of four years ago with the fog lights not working, there was never any mention of it by the tester or on the results sheet.

Of course it failed on a number of other things... :o

Trust me, op. Just put some black tape neatly on the round lense and itll pass. Ive done it for tight farmers with broken (youd get you fingers in through the hole!) foglamps more times than I can remember.
    Black tape.
    Isolate circut (pull fuse).

And hope they dont check your back axle bushings:D

Read it again lads - It says it clearly under Notes. "Where auxilary lights are found to be inoperative, this is not a cause for failure".
So no, it won't fail. A car I know has gone through a few NCT's with fogs not working and no problem, and recently my own car went through with working fogs, but he never even turned them on. Only the rear.
