Flail mower for an ATV

I am interested in getting a flail mower for the back of a quad.
Not a lot of info on them on Google.
The ground is very rough, but has recently been cleared down to the dirt and planted.
I'd like to maintain the fire-breaks so it looks less jungle like.
    Any advice?

I'd like something not too expensive and easy to maintain and that will handle gorse and blackberry bushes and rough, uneven ground.

Yeah as well as eating the trees. The deer won't be shot, but fencing will have to go up!
Anyways, back on topic - anyone know much about flail mowers for the back of an ATV?

it will probably be one with an engine on it, I looked into it before, there was one on DD at the time, Honda engine, belt to blades, trailed. I didn't buy anything afterwards.

    Too expensive, was number 1
Number two, my quad is 250 cc 2wd. got a cemtrifugal cluch, and i rekoned it wouldnt last too long. I had two fields to top, and i got a guy to come in and do them when he was doing his own. So for 2k, i said id put up with the thistles and throw him a few bob.

    We've a 400 4wd, thinking about 1, as we don't own a tractor.
Borrow father's or FIL's, generally get topping done once/twice per year, got nothing done in 2012 which left allot licking to be done last year.
For the price, it's a massive gamble if it doesn't work out

For 2k ud buy a small tractor. Sh topper too, tractor got many uses after that. For same money ud buy a good few sheep, r goats would eat anything.

Why not pay fil to come do it for u? 100 twice a year would be more than enugh, thats ten yrs topping and no maintenance!

    Can drag on sadly.
Have sheep good for grass & ground, but won't clean the rush.
Takes time moving tractor from farm to farm, can put quad in the trailer

Would you not be better buying sprayer for the quad? Less hard work and fuel for it? Selective weed killer will leave the grass relatively unharmed. You will find plenty if uses for it! Or weed licker?

Use weed licker find it stunts them, not get rid.
    Least mower will clean off

I'm also debating the idea of getting a quad flail mower. They are very expensive and that is the reason I haven't purchased yet. From ringing around Logic seem to be the most recommended but they can be 4/5k new. You will see some other makes advertised on DD around 2.5k mark . Still not cheap but I would question the quality. You could look at the UK for a second hand one but again that has it's own issues.

As you say if they weren't so expensive it'd be done already.
