Homemade U lock mounting?

Any suggestions how to make a homemade U lock mount for my bike, I don't mean in my pocket or my bag or leave it where I lock it in college.
I'd like to have it mounted to my old mountain bike, the one it comes with is **** and it regularly falls off.

I've seen a few lads use bungee cord and strap them to panniers but I guess you need a pannier.

Or else something from the rear of the seat maybe?

I gave up carrying mine and just leave it in work.

See I'm not just at the one spot, I might lock it up 2 or 3 places during the day, I've got a pannier and a frame to mount the pannier on, I was thinking make up a velcro strap or something.

i just thread the u lock in through the back of the pannier. It rattles on rough road but it's handy and out of the way of my feet.

I found an old bracket the other day which was two velcro straps held together by a shaped bit of plastic. One velcro strap went around the tube, the other around the lock. The velcro straps were about an inch wide. The bracket bit seems key to keeping the lock aligned, you may be able to throw something together with scraps and inner tube to prevent the thing swinging around.
