Morning Folks, this photo belongs to a friend of mine and he is trying to identify the car and approximate date. His uncle is in the photo. I'm sure this is probably an easy task for some of you. Thanks in advance!!

Dont know about the car, but I'd place it in the very late 20's/early 30's; just by the tyle of photograph, clothing etc.

No idea, but if that is a GB reg, then it's from somewhere between Nov 1921 to May 1923.

seems to be right, I've searched around a bit and it looks like it's a London reg issued between these dates.

Any idea of the make of car??

I thought it might have been a Bentley, but then judging by the way the young lad is sitting, there doesn't seem to be any doors or low doors, so possibly a Triumph, MG J2, or something similar?

Mmm. Hardly an MG, I think - could well be a Triumph 10/20 or 13/35.

The car appears to be a special based on a 1920 - 1924 Talbot 8-18. This car was available with a 970cc or 1074cc engine, and had a top speed of about 50mph. It had artillery wheels as standard, and did not have front brakes. The car in the photo has wire front wheels from some other make of car, and I cannot see any indication of brakes at the front wheels, even though the wheels themselves seem to intended for an axle with brakes. It has front wings of an Edwardian style, and no front sidelights on those wings. The central spotlight is consistent with a homemade special, and also the back wing seems too heavy for such a small car.

I think that the two lads are posing proudly with their handiwork, and from their clothes and hairstyles I guess that the photo dates from the thirties.

(Thanks to LR and JW for their help with this.)

It looked more French than English to me alright.
