Anyone know of a driving range in Dublin with an area to tee off the grass that's open at the moment. I'm based in Dublin 8.

Driving ranges in this country are rubbish as a rule. Invariably its just a big field with a few distance markers. I have used the Red Lane one outside Naas just as a warm-up. May as well use a net to be honest. I took along my rangefinder and discovered that the yardage markers bear absolutely no relation to the actual distances, which sort of defeats the point. I saw one outside London on TV that had pressure sensors out on the range that gave you an exact yardage as to how far you actually hit each club. Now THAT's a facility.

Range is more about working on technique, clean ball striking and direction for me. The distances I hit my clubs doesn't matter much to me because of wind and the quality of range balls. All I need is a general idea. I know my clubs distance from the course anyway.

Hitting off grass is important as it is obviously closer to the real thing.

Any link to this fantastic range of yours?

Haven't opened that area up yet this year. They said it'll be a week or two.

Was at the range at the Airport on Monday and the grass area was open. So much better than those mats
