Dublin hotels providing escorts ????

A friend of mine from the UK was in Dublin yesterday for work, he was staying in a hotel by the airport last night. The hotel was booked by his job, when he was checking in he was asked for a contact number so gave them his mobile number. Before he got to his room he got a text asking if he was lonely and would he like some company !!

So from that I can only assume that once his number was put into the hotel system it was automatically sent to an escort agency...... So do Dublin hotels have some sort of arrangement with escort agencies ?? Is prostitution not still illegal in Ireland ??? I know theres a difference between prostitutes and escorts at least on paper although I think we all know the truth there....

I'm no prude but have to admit I was shocked when he told me what happened and just wonder if this is common practice in hotels or maybe just airport hotels where there would be a high rate of unaccompanied men staying......

Are the hotels getting a kick back from these agencies ??
Anybody got any experience of this happening ?????

There is no way whatsoever that any reputable hotel is providing guests contact details to escort agencies.

You might get some moronic employee doing it to make a quick buck but he/she would be found out fairly quick.

Maybe it was a coincidence, I doubt the hotel is the only thing in the whole country that has his number

Funny coincidence, hes never been to Ireland before, had just given his number to the receptionist a couple of minutes before he got the text. He came straight from the airport to the hotel so did'nt give his number to anyone else....seems suspect to me.
I'm inclined to agree that staff at the hotel are making some extra cash by giving numbers to escort agencies. I told him to complain to the manager and hope he does.

I've worked in many hotels and it's known in the industry that night porters often have a list of numbers for escorts if the question arises.

Getting a text because the receptionist took his number sounds like bullsh*t tbh! :o

Why would my friend bullsh##t me ????? He checked in at 11am so no night porters, I don't work in the business but I would know that night porters would have this info......

I was curious to know if this was common in the hotels around the airport but maybe its a one time thing in this particular hotel....

I would'nt know much about that Fred :D All I'll say is that its an airport hotel about 1 km from the airport.

Are you sure you used enough question marks to properly show your outrage? :D

My relatives and friends often stayed in hotels around Dublin Airport and nobody mentioned anything like that. I'm pretty sure Dublin hotels don't offer you escorts together with the room menu. But it might be worth calling Joe Duffy, it's a subject that needs at least couple more hysterical reactions.

Maybe the receptionist fancied your man.

    Mod

This isn't really an issue that's relevant to The Ladies Lounge.
