Sounds to me like your limit screws are wrong.

Hopefully someone can confirm this for me

Shimano R501 rear wheel with 105 5700 cassette and the rear mech tips the spoke on largest sprocket regardless of any adjustments I make so Im gonna try it with a spacer, can anyone confirm if either of these 2 will fit as I need it ASAP
    Thanks

The Shimano 10s cassette needs the Wiggle spacer. That said .............. if the RD cage is that close to the spoke, you might have a bent derailleur or derailleur hanger.

Your derailleur won't touch your spokes without that spacer as I forgot to put it on mine when changing a cassette a few months back. It will however allow play in the sprockets without it.

Did you take a spill lately or damage the RD hanger in some way. If you fit a spacer that's not normally required, you may not be able to get the lock cap back on.

no damage, these are new wheels and new cassette, derailleur and hanger look ok but I don't have the spacer in and it looks like the cassette is a lot closer to the spokes than my other wheel.
I might as well order it and see if it works.

Finally found the answer with the wheel specs, if using a 10 speed cassette you will almost certainly need a 2.85mm spacer for a correct fit

    Model Number WH-R501-A
    Series SHIMANO
    Wheel Recommended Tire width 19-28C
    Brake Type RIM
    Freehub Body Material
    Cassette Compatibility 8/9/10*
Note *Can be used for 10-speed with an additional spacer.
