Is there such a gadget that can be put on the dash to detect speed limits and where would I get one?

sat nav in my car (Audi)tells me speed limits if i have a destination inputted. Its pretty accurate too. Usually updates within 20/30mtrs of the signs. Not accurate 100% of time but 80/90% yes

I've a really effective one. Installs between the driver's seat and the controls. It has binocular speed detection components that interpret information obtained from large round signs placed at regular intervals throughout the road network. When these 'speed limit signs' aren't immediately obvious, the device assumes the national limit and adjusts the vehicle speed accordingly. All necessary information comes through a large HUD unit referred to as a 'windscreen'. Hasn't failed yet.

How did the world turn at all before gadgets and apps...?

Ah cmon. Bit early in the day for attempting comedy lol that's understood and is obvious but even when sticking to the speed limits you can get caught.
Thread title was for support not replacement of common sense.

You must be a model citizen/driver.

Why is this in the Car Detailing section?

Everything referred to here relies on pulling the information from some 3rd party and gps or whatever.
I believe the Mercedes s class has a system that actually reads the road signs as you drive past and also uses the known speed limit locations like the other systems for a near foolproof setup.

Does it not come under the "car detailing" umbrella? Apologies if not.

I d/l a free App for Android called Mapfactor Navigator.
When it detects that you are over the limit it will warn you by buzzing.
Worked very well for me recently.

Sure I dont mind but car detailing is all about cleaning and polishing, I would say this would be better in the general forum.
