Hi there. I'm in Mullingar and had all the UK Freeview channels up to 2/3 weeks ago. I have an Argos Alba receiver and an LG TV both of which have always picked up the signal from my aerial on the roof. I have Saorview clear as a bell but I'm missing my other channels. Any ideas?

How many aerials do you have on the roof, 1 each for Saorview and Freeview or just 1 for both services?

Is there a masthead amp for Freeview reception?

Just the one aerial on the roof. Have had it for the past 14 years and always managed to get terrestrial uk channels. No idea on the masthead amp?

If there is a masthead amp to boost the UK channels, it or the power supply may have failed. How is the aerial split to the Alba and LG receivers - basic splitter or distribution amp?

The aerial goes into the main distribution box at the side of the house and then from the sockets to the box and the TV. There was a booster attached somewhere before but it's buried behind the TV unit. I'll dig it out and see if it's working. Thanks for your help.

The "booster" behind the TV unit could be a power supply? A pic of that booster and the distribution box would answer a lot of questions.

If it only 1 aerial fed through a masthead amp, & it's failed, how would they be getting Saorview "clear as a bell"?

Unless it was something like a Televes MRD or maybe there is actually 2 aerials as part of a single installation.

    Hence the reason pic request.

OK. I rooted out the booster and one of the connections was a bit loose. When I rescanned the LG UTV, Channel 4 &5 and Film 4 came in but they're very jittery. Rescanned the Saorview box and nothing. It's a rats nest of wires where the booster is. I've attached a pic of the booster and the outside 'distribution' box. There are wires from the aerial into the booster, then connected to a SKy box and then back from the sky box to the TV. The argos saorview box is connected straight from the distrubion box. Thing is this all worked perfect up to a couple of weeks ago.

You must have noticed the connectors in the distribution box seem affected by damp?

Is there a cable from RF2 of the Sky box? Maybe that is feeding the splitter in the distribution box & the cable in back left is from the aerial to where the Sky box is.

If you're taking pics, you might as well put up 1 of the aerial too. It's most exposed to the elements & most likely to suffer damage. A dislodged cover where the cable is connected, or something like a broken dipole element should show up in a half decent photo.
