Would you support the republic of Ireland becoming part of the united kingdom like wales Scotland or northern Ireland or would you prefer Ireland to remain an independent republic.
Should Ireland join the British commonwealth .
The purpose of this thread is to gain a perspective on public opinion.

What would we gain? We are already in the EU,which entitles us to freedom of travel, freedom of capital and freedom of goods. There is no benefit of joining a British Isles union.

The common wealth might be worth joining if it brought trade benefits. But the former colonies are far from being wealthy countries eg South Africa(crumbling economy), Zimbabwe( Crumbling Economy), India(Kinda of growing).

Ireland is best as it is.

    Wot? You 'aving a laff?

Ireland is a member of a federation called the European Union and so does not need to hitch its wagon to the UK.

Sure and then ill just travel to every grave of every soldier who died and fought for our independence and piss on them for good measure.

If this isn't a poor attempt at trolling it's still a ridiculously stupid question. Does anyone really think we should abandon our independence and soverignty and give it to the UK of all places?

We're not exactly "sovereign" at the moment, but no because next thing you know we'd be tripping over people wearing the jerseys of Premiership teams, and reading about British celebs .........

the uk could lose a country soon so why bother joining. that and the fact the people that died fighting for Irish freedom would turn in their graves

Would have no problem joining the Commonwealth if there were any obvious economic benefits.
