Belt Came Off Washing Machine

    Hi all,

The drum in the washing machine stopped going around today, had a look and it looks like the belt came off, on further inspection it looks like the belt has eaten into the drum a bit, I can't get the belt out of it now. I was thinking of just snipping the belt that's caught and buying a new 1 to put in.

    Couple of questions first though
    1) Is there any point in replacing the belt if there has been damage done already?
    2) I assume it's an easy enough job to replace (loop around drum, stretch over motor and done), am I right?
    3) Where would be the best place to get the belt tomorrow?

simplest way to remove the belt is take the big pulley off the drum shaft, putting the belt back on put it on the motor pulley first then onto big pulley and rotate. If the machine wasn't noisey on spin before it threw the belt check that the drum is free to rotate before trying to fit the belt back on. if it has signs of burn on belt definitely something gone in between s/s drum and outer tub. depends where you live in the Banner if you need a belt
