Hi all, I am visiting relatives in Banff in May and I'm staying on by myself for three days in Calgary before flying home, can anyone recommend things to do that would be tourist related? I plan to see the tower but don't really know a lot of other activities there. I like museums local attractions like statues etc and decent cafés that aren't too expensive. Is 3 days maybe pushing it a bit as far as things to do? Any tips much appreciated!

Hi, I have lived in Calgary for the last two years and while I have not done much of the Tourist things here are a few of the top of my head.

    Museums & Attractions:
The Glenbow Museum is a great place to spend half a day: http://www.glenbow.org/
The Military Museum is meant to be good (haven't been myself yet) http://www.themilitarymuseums.ca/
    Telus Spark is good: http://www.sparkscience.ca/
Calgary Zoo is decent if you are in to that sort of thing: http://www.calgaryzoo.com/
    Cafes,
Some nice places on Stephens Avenue (8th) and 17th Avenue South, 8th is mostly pedestrianised so it's nice to just walk around and drop into places that take your fancy.
Olympic Plaza (also on 8th) is nice to just sit around if the weather allows.
Check out here for a few more ideas: http://www.visitcalgary.com/
Note: The weather in May is unpredictable, just as likely to snow as it is to be sunny so don't count on sitting out on patios

Thanks a million for your reply! I will be adding those activities to my list and I really like the idea of the Zoo, which would definitely appeal to me. The cafes as well sound like a nice way to kill a few hours. Thanks again. ;)
