Whisk agitator and hp requirements

We have a lagoon and get a contractor in to agitate it. He uses 2 pump agitators but it is not working out. He recommended that we get a whisk agitator. He does not have one and has no requirement for one.
We looked at a second hand one today, an Abbey with a reversible gearbox.
Would a 80 odd hp tractor run it?
Also we have a IH 454 with a 1000 pto shaft - would that be able to run it.
There was some grass/weeds growing on top of the slurry but we sprayed it off with Roundup so its dead but still lumpy.
The contractor said that he will bring one of his pumps to help us agitate the lagoon before he spreads it.
From memory the lagoon is either 1m or 1.3m liters

I used one on a Ford 46 agitating a 70' diameter 8' deep tank. The 46 would be around 64 hp.

The gear box with reverse is a great job with the whisk . U can now mix ur tank right from now on

We have more or less committed to buying it. Hopefully will seal the deal on Monday.

That's the one I was using but you need to take off the pto shaft to change to reverse I presume the newer ones have a lever to change direction.

Lad I did my placement with had a stork agitator I think it was for his lagoon.
Used his 390 to agitate and she was. Under a bit of pressure at full tilt.
    There 80hp I think

What size was the lagoon? The one I was mixing with the 46 held almost 200,000 gallons.

That would put fair pressure on the agitator as well as the tractor. You would want a bigger tractor and agitator for that job.

You could try your tractor on the whisk, if it isn't able to do it, you can swap to the contractors one. Then see for next year, bigger tractor if changing or get contractor to agitate with your whisk.
If he can do it with only 1 tractor it will save you a few quid, as he was using 2 tractors.

OP is there only one access point or can you get the agitator in from a few different places? If you can get in from more places then 80hp and a whisk would be ok, but it will take time.

There are two agitation points. One is at one end and the other is along the side near the other end.
We are going to collect it tomorrow and give it a try. The contractor will bring his pump one if needed. Weather permitting he will spread it during the week with long pipe thingie.

Sprayed it to try and kill off the worst of the grass/weeds. Used the power hose through the chainlink fence :p
