Bottlenecking a 750ti

Thinking of putting a gtx 750ti and a new PSU into my dell inspiron 580 (not the slimline version). The 750ti seems to be a no-brainer in terms of performance and price but I'm wondering if my processor, the i3 550 would bottleneck this card?

It shouldn't, go for it. Get MSI or Asus, they make fantastic 750Ti's. What PSU are you getting?

imo the biggest selling point of 750ti is its low power consumption, low temperature and noise so it serves as a very handy upgrade card for some relatively old systems (mainly due to their dated psu). So if you are getting it then you shouldn't need a new psu (tell us what psu do you have) and i3 works fine with it.

Otherwise you might as well save that 20+ quid for a r7 260X or pay 15+ more for a r9 270.

The psu is just a stock dell one, might be listed here. I was thinking of getting the corsair cx430, I want a bit of breathing room if I upgrade further in the future

PSU should be alright. I wouldn't bother getting one if you don't have to, to be honest. Worst that'll happen is the GPU's driver will crash if the card isn't getting enough power. If you're going to go get a CX430, you might as well get a decent 500W unit as well, and be set for any future GPU, at which point you've gone and spent €250 on a 750Ti (and something you might or might not use down the line).

If you are going with a new PSU as others have already said you may as well go the full hog and get a good 500-550w, you'll be able to use that in a future build/upgrade
