    Hey,

I was just looking at the Nitelink timetable: http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/All-Timetables/69n/

So if I understand correctly the bus service runs Friday and Saturday at 00:00, 02:00 and 04:00. It seems a little strange because that means you can only really go out on a Thursday or Friday night. Saturday night is not a possibility because there's no Sunday service.

IMO it makes more sense to have a Saturday and Sunday bus instead of a Friday and Saturday, or am I misunderstanding the timetable?

They operate Friday night into Saturday morning and Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Nitelink is long past it's sell-by date.

The City has more than enough business out there to support a 24 hour 7 day service on at least 4 trunk corridors, with a Nitelink service bolstering it at weekends/fétes...;)

As part of my submission on Swiftway,I recommended that all planning, costing and development work be undertaken on the basis that it WILL operate on a 24/7 basis.

This level of investment (c.€600 Million) cannot be ringfenced by an "Office Hours" mentality which sees last services departing at 23.30.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

No it doesn't, have you being out in Dublin during the week recently? It's not very busy and the majority of people are students who won't take the bus when a taxi can take 5 of them for the same if not cheaper and door to door.

There may be scope for Nitelink on a Thursday night.

Havta agree to differ there Jamie2k9.

I'm in and through "Town" with regularity, 3 weeks of evenings/nights out of 5.

For sure,if you take the very centre of the City, you can convince yourself that there is "No Business" there, however when you factor in a Bus Route operating on a Cross City axis, then things can,and do,stack up quite differently.

I concede immediately that the ONLY "losers" in the provision of a 24 hour Bus Service will be the Taxi fraternity, and it is from that group I would expect the most ranting n raving about any such proposal.

As a start-point,I would suggest the NTA consider requesting (and funding) the operation of a selected group of 6 routes on a 24 hour basis for a defined period (6 months ?).

Just to get the ball rolling on the routes...4,13,16,25,39A,46A,

I'd suggest an hourly service IN BOTH DIRECTIONS with a Flat Cash Fare of €3.05 or Leapcard €2.50 serving ALL stops.
