NCT Failure?

    hey my car failed the nct today on "smoke"

    smoke 3.080/m - turbo 2.50m limit


    is this very much out and does anyone have any advise so i can get it sorted? im driving a 2002 vw passat tdi

    Take it for a good hard spin. Redden it. You could also look at dipethane type concoctions for adding to your diesel. Clean the egr and intake manifold. Change air filter. Check you have correct oil level and the right oil. Vw spec 505 01 or 507 00 if it a 130.

    cheers for the advise, will give that a whack, could also be the coolant temp sensor giving hastle again

    Does it sit at 90 degrees when hot? If not think about changing the thermostat. Those temp sensors have two outputs iirc, you could be getting the right reading to the temp gauge but the ecu might see a different reading, I'd always use a genuine one too, cheapo ones are often grief.

    for instant results we use this stuff,on a 98 galaxy diesel with 500,000 miles and went through with very low emissions they thought machine was broken and moved to second lane:eek::D:D
