Well i've just finished watching the concert from the Albert Hall and i've got to say that in my opinion it went down well.....Definitely not the best of Irish talent on show.....but that's for another day.
I didn't vote for Michael D. But i salute him for doing an excellent job with this visit.
The visit highlighted the intertwine of the two islands which is something i've never seen acknowledged so effectively before.
For example....My dad was the only one of 8 kids that didn't end up in Britain....as a result i grew up with first cousins that were called "Irish Bastards" in school over there and "English Pigs" when they came here on Holiday.
I'm sure many Irish people can associate with this.........I am delighted to see that this complicated relationship has been addressed by both heads of state.
We should never forget the past but also we should allow ourselves to move forward and not be prisoners of the past.
Well done Michael D.......I might even vote for you next time
