Rare cars that aren't on VRT calculator.

I was wondering and have a question.
What happens to cars that aren't listed on Revenue's website and are pretty much non-existent in this country like the Nissan GT-R, BMW X6 M and the likes.
How is the VRT calculated then?

What I always fond hilarious is that if insurers database can have 99% of rare cars in their options why can't revenue just share their database or just purchase a copy of it.

Probably just lazy public sector attitude or a case of hoping to catch someone out with an already landed car with full 36% of a wildky inflated OMSP

And what happens when you try to get a quote for the GTR? You're told they can't give you one and to phone them. Lazy private sector attitude!

You can phone revenue for a VRT quote on anything, rare cars can be difficult to determine an omsp that's why they aren't listed online. No point wasting taxpayers money coming up with values they'll probably never need.

That's a backwards attitude. In the case of insurance its the person not the Car that is the cause of having to call them.

Its just an excuse for laziness tbh. What costs more compiling an accurate database or employing XXX staff at a call centre. If you are dishonest about the cars spec etc you will get caught out on the day you pay vrt anyway .

    Stupid tax anyway

Revenue pick a value out of their arse I think to be honest for rare older stuff.
GT-R and the likes should be reasonable enough to put a price on simply by working off uk values as a starting point.

    Nissan GT-R

One passed me last week near Merrion Gates, Sunday morning at 11:30 to be exact

    It's my dream car :D

    Along with an X5M/X6M.

€57,250 to import a 2008 one from the UK + pay VRT + tax it for a year. Most realistic super dream car I'd say :D
//edit: This is actually less than my 320ci was purchased for by the first owner

*Live in the UK for 6 months without a job and bring it over might be cheaper* :D

    A 2006 S65 is €58k including VRT + tax for a year
    Although a 2010 X5 M is €65k including VRT + tax for a year so that's even worse.

Black one or red one? Some presence ! I'd love one. Vrt is sick on it, you'd nearly buy a residence in uk for the price of vrt.

    17k. Not that bad. It's more for a 2012 640d Gran Coupe I think.

If the car is not on the NCTS database then they lodge a query with Revenue for a figure which can take a number of weeks. It is also my understanding that Revenue get OMSP figures based on information supplied by the SIMI.

BTW Revenue will not take VRT queries from the General Public anymore since VRT appraisal was farmed out to the NCTS. The NCTS will not query Revenue either unless the car in question is presented in front of them for VRT appraisal.

R35 GTR Is up there but R34 and the other variant skylines have been removed from the calculator and are now assessed on a case by case basis. As the poster above mentioned, revenue wont deal with you if call them for a valuation, and ncts wont deal with you untill you arrive with the paperwork, if your not happy with the price you get then your told to pay and appeal.

Given the 2 cars mentioned, have you a connection with a car dealer in North mayo who has both of those cars in stock, both on uk plates?
