Too much planed off door, can it be rebuilt?

Guy came over to fit a door yesterday (replacing previous one) and I see that he had planed a little too much (maybe 0.5cm at the most) off the bottom of the door (which is now hung).

There's a little too much space on the bottom compared to how it used to be, so is it possible to rebuild the bottom using putty or something similar?

The door will be painted once finished.

Yes get a 10mm slip and glue and pin it on then sand it flush and Bob's the uncle

I take it that there's no skill involved in taking the door down and putting it back up once the hardware has been installed by a professional?

Or should I leave that job to someone who hangs doors regularly?

Nope, just get someone to help so its not hanging from 1 hinge/screw while you remove and re-attach, just remove the hinges from the door, you can leave everything else in the frame btw.

What about planing it back myself, do I just get some sandpaper and a few hours of sanding down/re-attaching/re-sanding/re-attaching until it's right?

Maybe get the guy who fitted the door and ask him to fix it.
It will be very time consuming for you using sand paper, where he should do it Fairly quick with the right tools plus it's kind of his fault..
