Not sure if this is the right place to put this so I apologise if its in the wrong place. Bought a washed and ready to eat salad bowl yesterday and ate half of it, today i made chicken wraps and cleaned out the bowl.

I then chomped through the body of this little fecker. Was a big enough pop for me to go >:( "What the hell was that" Then seen the remains of this fella on my wrap. Oh and hes still alive and moving an hour later.

Thats his head, antenna and front two legs with a third wrapped behind. Just curious to what exactly is the norm in these situations? Learn from the experience and wash all salad, or do I report it to food safty or something. It's the fact I don't have a clue what it is is the annoying part.

Again sorry if this is in the wrong place and if someone could identify the little fecker it'd be great. Its packaged in Northern Ireland so I guess it isn't a freaky eastern death roach or something :pac:

I think you'd probably get a better ID from the Nature & Birdwatching folks rather than the Food & Drink regulars. ;)

    Moved.

PS - Bit of a result on the additional protein content! :pac:

Thanks, I actually found a thread asking to identify a bug so I kind of hijacked it.

He was cruchy, not very tasty but I'm still here and not looking like Jeff Goldblum in the Fly ha ha so all is good.

Impressive antennae for a salad bug.

You don't seem to be taking it too badly. People have got big payouts in Ireland from very similar situations!

Goes with the territory, especially with home grown. I have had that, ahem.. momentary gritty sensation of mauling the occasional baby snail.

Longhorn beetle of some sort... or other??
Unfortunately for all concerned, you ate the bits that might have made identification a tad easier!

Nevertheless, have a look here, assuming he's native to here or the UK:

Well I usually would buy a salad bowl on my way back from College and instead bought a frozen pizza.. so I guess I'm noty happy on some level :o

Still no idea what the hell he was/is, he doesnt seem to match any bug on that link
