Best bet would be if you contact your local social welfare office directly and ask their policy, I think you can sign on the day after but you would want to have a very good reason for missing your appointed time. You seem as if you are going to miss your day so ring them in advance and im sure they will make an allowance for you if you have a valid reason

As far as I'm aware you cannot sign till the following Monday if you miss your signing day,but there maybe allowances for certain things like Hospital appointments etc

I'm not sure tbh as you usually have a couple of hrs in which to sign on your allocated day,so they may say that a doctors visit would not take up that much time,

I cant find anything concrete on their site either :(

No sorry, what i mean is i was bed ridden and couldnt make it down to sign, if i handed in a docs note to explain this would that cover my reason for not being able to sign

Hmm tricky, they could, in theory, then say you were not fit for work,so therefore should have claimed illness benefit while you were incapacitated,

Your best bet is to just present yourself down at the local office and explain your situation, depending on whether they believe you or not they may just let you sign,or tell you to come back on Monday, whether they stop money on you or not I couldn't tell tbh,

But there rules state,if you miss your day,you will not be allowed to sign on till the following Monday and you may lose some of your payment,

The payment part is very vague and presumably to allow them to decide case by case, but if you can get a Doctors note then do so and bring it with you,

Hope it works out for you,as none of us can do with our money being deducted, whether working or not :)

Call them in advance and let them know that you are unable to make your allocated sign on day.
They are very helpful and will make an alternate arrangement for you once you let them know in advance.

The OP has already missed their signing day,so they nay not be so understanding over the phone,
