Booked on Monday and rang today to try get it ASAP as I need it for a job I've provisionally accepted and I'm now doing it tomorrow morning!

Failed about a month ago, hadn't done any lessons or pre-tests before it, but just really really want to be sure of getting it this time, any advise based on my previous score would be really appreciated!!

    Grade 1's
    Rules/Checks (2)
    Technical checks (2)
    Position on bends (2)
    Clutch (1)

    Grade 2's
    Progress on the straight (2)
Turning Left yielding right of way (1)
    Position on the straight (4)
    Position on bends (2)
    Position Turning left (1)
    Clutch (1)

    No Grade 3's.

Any help on what to focus on, thanks!

Position on the straight - you want to be away form the broken white line incase other cars want to overtake you. You should be more towards the curb as opposed to near the line when possible.
Progress on the straight - if it's a long continuous road, try and get into 4th gear and up to 50m/ph but make sure you don't break the speed limit, they'll be very harsh marks wise if you do. If it's not a long continuous road, try to get into third gear. Staying in second will show lack of progress.
Hope that helps a bit and best of luck in your test tomorrow!

    Progress on the straight (2)

That usually means "lack" of progress on the straight. If you were driving too slowly and too cautiously, you are holding up traffic and you are a hazard to others. If the speed limit on the road is 50 km, you should definitely be doing no lower than the mid 40's, if it is safe to do so & the road straight ahead is all clear. If you are being too careful, you'll get done for lack of progress.

Did you let any other cars out in front of you, or give way to cars coming out of driveways or other junctions? Don't ever do that if you have the right of way. It may seem like the polite thing to do, but its the kiss of death during a test. Or you could have been exceeding the speed limit. Only you know what you did or didn't do.

Turning Left yielding right of way (1)

Hard to know, without more details. Perhaps you did not yield to traffic that was already in the road, as you should have done. Or perhaps you did not move off in time as you were being too cautious. Or perhaps he felt your observation was lacking, as you turned. Hard to say really.

    Position on the straight (4)

You were too close to the curb, or you were too far from the curb as you drove. You should leave an open car doors width between you and the curb as you drive. If you leave any more or any less, you'll get done for position on the straight.

On two lane roads, you should also drive in the left lane at all times, provided it is not a bus lane or cycle lane. If you drive in the right lane, but you are going straight ahead, you'll get done for incorrect road position. Every single time that you do this, you'll get done for it. If you do it on 4 different roads, you'll get done for it four times.

    Position on bends (2)

Same as above. You are too close or too far away from the curb. Or if there are cars parked on the bend, you are not giving them enough clearance, or too much clearance, as you are going around them. When going around a parked car, its very important to leave at least an open car doors width between you and the parked cars. This is so you won't hit someone, if they are in the car and they open the door without looking.

    Position Turning left (1)

Hard to say really, without more details. You could be driving too close to the curb as you turn, resulting in your possibly mounting the curb and hitting a pedestrian. Or you could be making turns that are too wide and loose and are taking you over into the lanes of oncoming cars.

It is a pity that you are only asking this now, as lesson or two with a trained instructor could have been of great use to you, just to fine tune the road positioning stuff. Eleven grade twos may seem like a lot, but it really isn't seeing as you never got any lessons & you can still pass if you get eight of them.
