I remember DJ Carey's missus (ex missus?) berating one product presentation as being "...a bit too much like Lego for me. I'm out".

Yeah, too much like a billion dollar plus company. I haven't watched since.

The fella who made those GAA wristband/watches in the county colours seems to be doing well. He's making watches now for some Premiership teams and has branched into iPhone covers.

I wouldn't imagine many were successful. They offered such tiny amounts of money for really large chunks of equity in the companies. Pretty difficult to get a company off the ground when you have very little capital and very little/no equity to sell on to a real investor.

They also only took on really novel companies to the tv stage, didn't matter if they were viable businesses. It was an entertainment show more than anything else

No no, it's on RTE. Easy mistake to make in fairness.

I meant it was designed for entertainment much more than profiting from the companies that enter. I also never said they succeeded in that goal :P

The TV time they got was pretty invaluable though, a recommendation from a celebrity is still worth a lot in the right context. I think companies that went in there already on the right track probably did quite well from the exposure.

I heard that very few of them actually got any money - even if they were promised it on the show. There is loads that goes on behinds the scenes and huge demands are made before they get anything. Does anyone know any more about this?

I'm sure a lot of people just use it to get exposure and other investors will come out of the woodwork

Weird, I came onto this thread just to post about those thingies. I thought they didn't invest in it. Where did you buy it? I could do with one.

I have two - legs. If it's really full I hoist up a plump child to do the squashing.

I kinda lolled at Ms snotty pants and yer man from Not-In-The-Black-Tie with their pompous guff. "Soo, You've invented a new way to turn lettuce leaves into gold? Sorry, your morkeshing strategy doesn't appear transparent going forward and your revenue projections don't seem to have been plucked out of your hole, so for that reason, I'm out". fcuk off.

Insomnia still stocks them. Gone are the funky plastic dispensers now, just normal polythene like a bag of chocolate peanuts.

Cue the deal struck n smiles all round. He never got a fiver out of him in the end!

I see Dee's stuff in the supermarkets. She was the one that came on with the veggie burger. Seems to have quite a range of products now.

You'd also see Brooke & Shoals scented candles in shops. They smell amazing a look a very high-end product

No idea - my minions buy them and fit them to boilers to save hassle bleeding them when they run out of oil. Chadwicks sell them, <€30 afaik. Ask in a plumbers merchants or chadwicks. Someone else will know anyway - give it thirty seconds. Easy-bleed rings a bell.
