    Hi guys,

I'm looking for some recommendations for a set of tyres size 205/55 R16.

    Requirements:
    Relatively low on noise
    Good wearing tyre.
    Decent grip in the wet

Not too demanding on fuel economy would be a plus.

My budget is around €100 per corner including fitting if possible.

I currently have a set of Continental ContiSport Contact 2 and while they are a decent tyre with good grip, they did create a lot of cabin noise and my fuel usage has gone up a fair bit despite not really driving that much more or differently in the past. Journeys are either pottering around the city or 200 mile+ round trip journeys mostly on motorways.

I've been looking at the following makes:

    Bridgestone Ecopia EP150
    Bridgestone Turanza T001
    Continental PremiumContact 5
    Continental EcoContact 5
    Dunlop Sport BluResponse
    Goodyear Efficient Grip
    Hankook Kinergy Eco K425
    Michelin Energy Saver+
    Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde

But anyone who has any of the above or other recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

I would go for the Michelin -they are 105 a corner from the lad i use but am sure he would knock a few quid off if you were buying 4

What are they going on to?

I had ContiPremium Contact 205/55/16V on my old Accord. Can't say I noticed much road noise, but I generally don't on anything - as long as I can hear the radio I don't really care.

Fuel consumption was pretty good - 7L/100km consistently, which is a decent return from a 2.0i VTEC. Mainly motorway / N Road though, with very little other use.

Fitted at 94,402km, and were still on the car when I traded it in 3 1/2 years later. Failed the NCT just before I got rid, on headlight alignment only. Can't remember exactly what was on it, but was around 180k - 185k when it was traded.

Yep - 85,000km - 90,000km from a set of tyres, that were still road legal after that. Fronts swapped to back after 20,000km but never rotated again.

Expensive enough tyre, but for that wear (with decent dry and wet grip, not great in the cold though) they were very cost effective.

That's some mileage from a set of tyres. I don't think I ever got more that 40k miles (64k kms) from a set of tyres. Currently getting about 56k kms from a set on a 2L TDCi S-max. A bit painful when the likes of hankok cost €150 a corner or €190 to €200 a corner for bridgestone/continental

    Vredestein Sportrac 5

I've driven on them and sold plenty of them too. Great tyres imo.

Goodyear efficient grip gets my vote and is a LRR tyre. Circa €90 from Discount Tyres in Blanch
