    Hi!
Starting a masters in regenerative medicine at NUIG this coming September and am wondering what would be my best bet for accommodation? Looking to share with other postgrads if possible.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated :--)

I'm in the same situation as yourself! I wonder are houses hard to come by?

Finding houses isn't a problem although your budget will determine a lot. Cheap rooms aren't hard to find although you'll likely be sharing with undergrads which can be a pain if you're trying to do a masters.

If you can stretch to €300-400 a month rent, you should be able to find somewhere quiet and decent to do a postgrad.
Just avoid Corrib Village. Place is a nightmare if you're trying to get work done.

Yeah, I've been told to avoid Corrib Village like the plague if I'm looking for something quiet.
300-400e isnt too unreasonably. Better start saving up so!
Any recommendations as to general areas which would suit postgrad students?

Also is there some sort of NUIG forum for postgrad students looking for shared accomodation?

    Thanks for all your help!:)

Im starting my posgrad in september too. Luckily for me my boyfriend is moving up with me so we plan on getting our own place which, will mean decent enough rent. We are looking into athenry, as its only a shirt train ride into city. Anyone else thinking about commuting?

I'd say just get private accommodation. It's what I did as I didn't want to be stuck with students who are out on the piss all the time as I need to get work done.

If you're going to be focussed on studying, you could easily get something for €250 a month or so just outside the city, very manageable if you got a bike but if you want to be in the city centre, you'd be looking at €300-400 a month.
In those price brackets, you'd probably be sharing with people working in retail or hospitality which can be quite handy.
Areas like Greenhills, Foster COurt or Castlelawn will be very affordable and walking distance from the city.
Do you drive? If so, you could easily get a nice place in Knocknacarra for a good price. It'd be too far to walk though.

I'll be looking for a 1 bed apartment (also doing a postgrad. Any advice?

Daft.ie I'd say. Although you'd be paying a hefty amount for a 1 bedroom apartment.

    Hi Fleminai91,

I have also been accepted for this course in September and so am in the same accommodation situation. Have you had any luck with accommodation since posting this?
