Form P50

Hi, I am trying to claim back my emergency tax from a job I worked in for 4 months last summer.

I am currently unemployed (back in college, the work was a placement) and have filled out a P50. Will this allow me to get my emergency tax back? I also overpaid on USC for this reason, will I be refunded (most of) this money too?

I have filled out the form but am unsure as to how I address the letter. My local office is Limerick http://www.revenue.ie/en/contact/south-west-region.html#limerick

Do I use the address exactly as supplied on the website?

How long should I expect it to take for the money to be refunded?

    Thanks in advance.

A form P50 only applies to the current tax year (2014) All you need do is request a review of 2013 either through your online PAYE Anytime account or by contacting Revenue directly by phone or email.

Thanks for that. They (revenue) never sorted my tax while I was working and I've been puting this on the long finger for a while now (it's quite a bitof money too :( ).

So if I request a viewing of this over the phone is it possible I could have this sorted fairly soon?

    Thanks again.

You can call your local paye area on whatever 1890 number is appropriate to you. Have your pps number ready. So long as Revenue have your pay and tax details from your previous employer on file for 2013 and all is order, it shouldn't take long to request a review over the phone.
If a refund is due, it's usually processed within 5 working days.

I've received a P50 form by post as I had been unemployed for a few weeks. However I'm now in employment again. The form asks you to sign at the end stating that I am unemployed - obviously I'm not. Does this mean that I'm not entitled to anything back for when I was out of work or is there a different form to fill in?

Anything you're due back should be refunded by your new employer, assuming you gave them your P45 when you started.
