Just wondering how people manage their breathing when doing tempo work?
I was doing back squats @ 3.2.x.1 tonight, I found holding a breath for 5 seconds tough, after a 4 reps I was turning purple . I tried slowly breathing out during the eccentric and pause but that just felt weird, I'm just used to holding my breath during the rep.

Breathing is generally involuntary so if you brace your core/spine you should not have to think about breathing unless you choose to hold your breath. I don't think you need to hold your breath unless your going heavy. It may just be out of habit. Next time when you set up brace your spine/core and breath naturally from your diaphragm, your core will still be on if you've done it correctly and your breathing will take care of itself.

Inhale on the way down, exhale on the way up. Control your breathing, don't hold your breath. You'll end up passing out on a set of dead lifts like that dude on youtube.
