Well it's a Golf GTI with a different body shell and badges isn't it ?The R bit might get you some extra bhp too.But make no mistake what you save when buying - presumably lots- you'll loose when selling.I don't think that body shape of Leon aged as well as the Golf .It Is the rounder one right ?

An LCR is worth more than a Golf GTI of similar vintage.

225bhp, Brembos, uprated Anti Roll Bars ans a few other bits over the standard chassis.

I'd have one over a golf any day, would even consider one over a Mk5 Golf.

I thought it looked pretty smart. I regularly see one pass near where i live and he keeps it very clean

I remember reading somewhere that the Cupra R was faster than the Golf Gti due to a different gearbox.

Either way they're a great car and serious fun to drive. Great to handle too :)

If I had a shorter daily commute, I'd seriously consider one, and I'd have one over the golf any day.

Had a 03 one op,beautiful car and good reliabiltiy.Regulary got 38mpg out of it,even got 42 out of it at one stage!
The only thing i will say,is the door seals perish, and rain water gathers in the footwells.
Pretty easy fix tho, tube of tech 7 and remove the door cards and then the metal plate covering the door, remove the old seal, and re-seal with tech 7.Reasssemble and bobs your uncle.

An LCR had a minimum of 30BHP on a MK4 GTi so theres your difference. Same gearbox but not sure if it had the same final drive.

The front end shares more with the audi s3 than golf gti of that era. Cast wishbones, different arb setup and different hubs. The rear suspension is the same as the anniversary golf gti, skoda vRS and so on. It has vented rear discs.

They are nice cars and I'd have one over a gti any day. Interior quality is as good as the gti. The dash top is the same as the audi a3 and the lower section is mostly golf.

At this stage they are getting old so things like breather hoses, bushings, shocks could be getting tired.

See if you can find one with the optional Recaro interior, they are rare but very nice with bucket type seats in the rear too.

Two words : BUY ONE !! Seriously nice car . Driven one on many occasion but never owned one . I've had mark4 gti golfs and mark 1 vrs Octavias and the LCR is in a league of its own . Plus they are a great looking car . I'd give my right ball right now to own a steel grey LCR ;)
