Protein Powder Sources

There seems to be a lot of varied information out there on the different types of protein powders you can get. I recently bought 2kg of soy protein isolate from myprotein, and have since read material saying it is bad for you, and other material saying it is fine for you.

Is there much difference between soy / whey / pea protein?
Are you better buying flavoured or un-flavoured (apart from the taste aspect)?

Here's a recent enough study on whey vs soy - http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/07315724.2013.793580 whey supplementation resulted in significantly more lean body mass, just put that up because it came up on my twitter feed a few days ago, there may be more robust studies out there. Whey will always be the best protein sourrce out there, unless you have dietary restrictions.

This is and interesting one on whey isolate and whey concentrate - http://imgur.com/GosqCzH

Unflavoured will have more protein and less carbs but not much, purely because the added flavouring will knock off the ratios, it's no big deal, it will be significantly cheaper to buy unflavoured though, if they were the same price I'd probably just get flavoured everytime.

I've been using rice protein isolate and find it quite good. Just another source of protein. What was your reasoning behind going for soy protein? I've heard soy over long periods can build up estrogen in guys, but not sure if thats a myth or not..

Why isolate? This just baffles me you're paying like 25% more for maybe 3g less carbs and a few grams more protein per serving.
