Treadmill Training

    Just wondering could anybody give me advice on any treadmill workouts to help with my goal of running a 10k marathon in 8 weeks. I got the treadmill Friday and have for the last few days just done 30 minutes at 12km/h on an incline of 3. I found it a little tough as i have not done much exercise the last few weeks. My main goal is to lose 7 pounds to get within my ideal weight and i am using the marathon as my challenge to push myself not to get lazy.

    I presume running 12km/h for 30 mins a day probably won't do much and will get boring. Can anybody recommend any programs to help build myself up to 10k?

    Hal Highdon has a good 10k programme http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51122/10K-Novice-Training-Program which is really good for a first timer. Also unless there is a specific reason you are on the treadmill, I would get outside and start running - it is the best thing for training and much more challenging than a treadmill. If you can't do all your runs outside even 1–2 runs a week in the open air would be a good idea and will be better for your fitness and training.
