I have vitiligo. .. patches of it all over my body... it doesn't really bother me except on my face :(
I have it around both my eyes & a patch on my chin... it starts getting quite noticeable around this time of year & going forward into the summer...
Does anyone have any cures for this or know of anything that helps??
Also I've noticed more recently that the skin around the white patces is starting to get dark brown & blotchy... it's getting worse :((
Does anyone know of a skin lightening cream I can use on the darker parts...??
My skin is quite dry & flakey in general but prone to blackheads, little white bumps & pores on the T-zone... I also have redness in the cheeks & am starting to get the little red veins around my nose & on my cheeks :((
I have a bit of exema around the bottom corners of my nose... I use elecon hc cream on it from my doc though a different doc told me it was too harsh to use on face ?!!
    Please help!!

    Dermatologist. Go to one.

I was going to suggest seeing one anyway to enquire about skin repigmentation for your face, but given that you've noticed areas getting dark brown and blotchy I would make it an absolute priority to see a specialist asap.

Thank you for the tip. .. I suppose that would be the best idea really but totally out of the question due to cost... unless it's possible to see one on a medical card... The last time I went, almost 11 years ago, it cost 150e!! Not sure of costs now but no way I could afford that unfortunately :((

Anyone can go publicly. Get your GP to refer you. A person with vitiligo who sees darkening around the edges of a white patch absolutely needs to see a specialist. The only thing is there is usually a long waiting list but if your GP stresses an urgency to be seen they might prioritize you. Then as well as having your skin checked you could also ask about re pigmentation on your face. If they do breast reduction on medical cards they bloody well should do skin repigmentation on the face given that its exposed to light all day every day.

I'm curious... Why do you say it's particularly important to see a specialist if there are dark patches around the white. ..??

Because its an unexplained change in your skin and as it is you're at higher risk of skin problems than most due to the vitiligo. Blotchy dark patches without vitiligo are often called liver spots and are caused by sun damage. Your skin has zero defense against sun damage in places. If it was me, I would want to make sure that the changes were absolutely benign and the only way to do that is to see someone who specializes in skin. They might look at you and say "oh thats such and such, found in x% of patients and nothing to worry about" or might say 'I think we should investigate that'. Either way, it needs a doctor's opinion.
