    Just picked this up today in Chapters, am very excited, loved his other books.

    Anyone read it ? How did you find it ?

    I too loved his other books and am a big fan of his writing. It has been a while since I read The Map and the Territory but I have just picked up another copy with a view to re-reading it.

    I really enjoyed it: he appears to have mellowed slightly and isn't as angry as his previous works. A few of the old favourites come into his line of fire: e.g. art and science, but he does take on other societal issues also.

    Some of the book takes place in Ireland so it was interesting to read an outsider's view on the place.

    I gave my original copy to a few friends and none of them liked it. I guess that is Houellebecq's writing for you: people tend to love or hate.
