faults can still be stored ;)

reading live data will show the likes of fuel pressure. etc..

Why did ye change fuel pump?

If it cured the problem for a wee while, no harm to recheck electrical connections to pump.

I would really suggest someone with professional diagnostic equipment.

Could even be an immobiliser issue

Had a similar problem with my 318i, I spent a lot of time and money messing about swapping parts and hoping to fix it by guessing what was wrong with it. I then paid a lad €20 to read the codes, codes said bad temperature sensor so I changed that and it fixed it.

There are too many electrics to be guessing what the problem is! as others have said,,, get the codes read, codes are stored in the ECU so can be read easily and relatively cheaply

it can also be a symptom of a fualty crankshaft position sensor. Getting codes read is what you have to do. I read my own with a 10e bluetooth dongle and saved me from going changing fuel pump
