Triax TSC114 RTE One HD Rescan

    Hi All,
I've rescanned (both DVB-T & S separately) on my TSC 114 box and haven't been able to find RTE One HD. Saorview telephonist told me to rescan between 5 and ten times. Have done this to no avail. Rte 2 hd, tg4, tv3 work fine as do
    all satellite channels.

Could the problem be with the Triax box? Has anyone similar problems?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks.

To get Rte1 Hd you need to scan DVB-T only. If you know the transmitter you are receiving your signal from you simply need to manual scan mux no 1 and the triax box will automatically stick RTE1 onto ch1..

What transmitter are you using? or where are u Living? Put in your location here and the saoriew map will hopefully tell you what transmitter it recommends. Over on the right of the screen you will see something like

    SITE
    INFORMATION
    Site:
    WOODCOCK HILL
    Site On-Air:
    Yes
    Channels:
    47
    , 44
So in this case I would scan no 44 for mux 1 as 47 is mux no 2...simply scan whatever number it recommends, if it doesnt find it then its highly likely your aerial is not fully aligned for both muxes.

@steveon - RTE1 is on mux two. This would need to be scanned.

Thanks Steveon and Fat-Tony. Your advice worked a treat. I seriously appreciate that.

I rang Saorview which was a waste of ten minutes talking and 40 minutes on-hold listening to Norah Jones.

I'm in Bray and thought I was picking the signal up from Greystones but tried the channels from 3 rock and realise that's where I'm getting signal from.

On another point the signal strength and quality jumps from 20% and 25% respectively to 22% 100% when I unplug the satellite from the splitter. Sometimes I have to turn the Triax box on and off making sure I turn it off when terrestrial is on.

Do you know if the splitter is a problem or is this an issue with the Triax box?

    Thanks again guys.

What kind of a "splitter" do you have? Ideally the satellite and terrestrial signals should be on separate cables. Using combiners and splitters will affect the signal strength received at the receiver. What aerial do you have for Saorview? Three Rock is group A (red tip), whereas Kippure (which should be receivable in parts of Bray) is on channels 54/58 and is in old Group C/D, but is obviously in a different direction to Three Rock. I'm in Greystones and the local transmitter is very low power and is really only for Greystones and areas south. Would be blocked by Bray Head to the north.

Not "very low power"! It's 500 watts, antenna height 265m (870ft.) asl.

Ok then, "relatively" low power! Kippure and Three Rock - 63kW ;)

    Fat-Tony,
I took your advice and scanned RTE 1 hd from Channel 33 so am def getting signal from 3 rock. This is even though the aerial is on the south wall facing away from 3 rock! It's amazing I'm getting a signal at all.

I should have double cabled it in the first place and think that you're right, the splitter is probably the problem.

THe splitter I have is something like this except with TV and SAT:
    http://armstrong-electronics.ie/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_44_61&product_id=258

The aerial is something like this:
    http://armstrong-electronics.ie/index.php?route=product/product&path=10_11_12&product_id=208

It's def the splitter I'd say based on your observations.

Do you think investing in a higher spec splitter would be a good idea or are they just the same sides of the one coin?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
The splitter is a TRIAX one, don't know code name.

    The aerial is like this:
    http://armstrong-electronics.ie/index.php?route=product/product&path=10_11_12&product_id=208

The aerial is actually pointing south towards Greystones so I'n amazed I'm picking up a signal from 3 rock.

Signal strength on all terrestrial channels is 60% and quality is 25-30%. Rte one hd has strength of 30% and quality 0%.

    So
1.Would it be worth changing the splitter to a more expensive one or are they all basically the same?
    or

    2. Is it an idea to put an amplifier on the terrestrial signal?

    or

    3. Would it be an idea to use a powered internal aerial?
