Help - Flickering Screen

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop, it is a few years old now, but was a top of the range when I bought it. Recently it has started with a screen flicker whenever I start up, and sometimes while I am working. If I press my thumbs into the screen, or move the screen back and forth it stops, but it is very annoying. Does anyone know what may cause this, and I'm hoping that it's not a terminal problem as I cannot afford a new laptop right now. Any suggestions/advice, please?

Looks like you're not the only one with this problem.

Sounds like the screen cable connection, which runs through the left hand side hinge is loose or being worn down by a design flaw.

Worse case scenario, you need a new screen connector cable I imagine.
Rest of the laptop should be fine.
