It was on the radio last week how there is a surge in burglaries of households who own smaller / designer breeds. These dogs are then stolen for either breeding or to be used as dog bait.

    SCUM. OF. THE. EARTH.

One thing I can't stand is animal cruelty especially to dogs.
Horrible cnuts sit and watch as one or two pits destroy this pup. Sick ba5tards.
Love to catch one of them and put him in a pit with my Dog. (Akita) See how brave they are then.

Should be lengthy sentences for those bastards.
    Absolutely disgusting.

Anyone know what sort of sentences are handed out for this sort of crime?

Poor little doggy. :( The look of pure sadness in his eyes is heartbreaking. Hope he can recover and find a loving home.

    Not even nearly harsh enough.

Personally I believe they should have the exact same thing done to them. Absolute scum deserve no pity or mercy.

If they were caught, and thats a big if, the actual result of being in front of a "Judge" would be a small fine and maybe some meaningless stuff thrown in like a suspended sentence or a ban on keeping dogs.

These stories must be horrific for anyone who has had a dog dissapear.

This is just another area where this state fails utterly to uphold law or civilised values but we are great with paying lip service to them.

unfortunately unless they're caught in the box/pit with the dog, they cant be charged with dog fighting.
