So I took a gander at my paycheck today and saw that I have had 3 deductions from my wages for LPT in the three months of this year so far.

This seems odd from my perspective as I don't own a property, I've been renting in various locations over the last 12 years since moving out of my family home.

Does anybody have any good ideas on who to contact to have this resolved? My payroll department have informed my its my problem.

I think you need to contact the revenue I presume and raise it with them -http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/lpt/obligations.html

I had issues with sorting my fathers LPT so had to call them a number of times. It was a lottery on the helpfulness/competence of the people you speak with but some are very good and I got sorted eventually. I would send an email and call them as well - http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/lpt/contact-details.html

    Best of luck

Dont bother sending an email. Just ring the helpline tell them your situation and theyll put you on to the head office who can then refund you.

That could be a long and costly call - those 1890 numbers are not cheap from some mobiles .
    Email is cheaper.

Handy website for non 1890 numbers. Spotted on Bargain alerts.

It's a scandalous behaviour by Revenue LPT office. They take random people and demand property tax at will. We have been telephoning, writing letters, sending emails for months with no avail. They've been harassing a person who's never owned any property, when started demanding deduction of LPT from his wage. I wonder, is it possible to take them to court and sue for extortion? Surely, if I demand money for no reason from an unknown person on the street, I'll be arrested for robbery.
