since our oil heating has been turned off, we have noticed water coming from an overflow pipe from the roof. This happened last summer but would happen once early morning and that was it. Now it is dripping all day and the pipe is over our back door. Can anyone tell me why and how to fix, Thanks

possibly the stopcock in the water tank in your attic needs to be adjusted and / or replaced. but I will wait for more knowledgable people to answer.

The ballcock is probably leaking causing the expansion tank to overflow
