Hi there, I've been currently working in my job for the last year now and I am on a permanent contract.

I haven't taken any holidays this year and I'm pretty sure I'm owed another weeks holiday from last year.

I'm set to leave the company this Saturday due to college placement and I'm leaving my town to move to Galway. Does anyone know will I recieve the payment from my holidays that I didn't take?

    Thanks :)

Are you full time or part time? I think you should be entitled to whatever holiday pay you've built up if you're part time.

You are entitled to get paid for your holiday time due. I got it in my last payslip after I left.

By holidays do you mean annual leave? I don't think they have to pay you for that if you don't take them but I am open to correction...

My only source is that I was in a similar position to yours, finishing up college placement and had a few days holidays left. I just left on the Tuesday rather than the Friday. I would have preferred to stay on till Friday and get the extra three days pay but I don't think they would have fancied it.

edit: listen to the fellas above me I'm sure they know more than I do!

    Citizen Information:
If you are leaving a job you are entitled to receive payment for any outstanding annual leave and public holidays due to you.

Excellent, that'll really help for when I move if it comes like this!

I left with good notice though and staying till the last day!

Just be aware that in relation to last years holiday pay, you may not get that even if you didn't take the holidays.

Where I work we have a use it or lose it rule and must take holidays in the work year, and do not get paid if we do not take them, nor can we carry them over.
