    Hey all,

I decided my MacBook Pro is getting a bit long in the tooth and i don't exactly have 2k to spend on another MacBook so I am thinking of just building a rig. Mostly use the Adobe products and will use it for gaming in the years to come. If anyone can give me advice let me know.

    1. What is your budget? [€800]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming/Video editing/3D Modelling/HTPC/Internet] (If gaming include which games)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [No]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [19'/20'/22'/24'/etc.]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080] [Yes]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [No]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [No]

    8. How can you pay? [Credit Card/Debit Card]

    9. When are you purchasing? [In 30 days]

you could build your own mac if you want to stay with os x, much better value than buying from apple so the best of both worlds really. hackintoshs are much more stable these days, and there are a variety of builds shown here:

you'd find most of the parts cheaper on hardwareversand though. also, whilst not listed there, some amd cards also work oob and provide better value for money and performance in certain programs, such as final cut, which is now more opencl based.

ah tried that before and its more hassle than its worth. plus the main reason i got a mac way back when was for final cut but since they butchered it withe the latest release i've been using premiere pro now. Plus PC Gaming!

pc gaming is good all right but fcpx is much better now with the latest updates (it was definitely horrible at first), and building a mac is almost no hassle at all, not like it used to be. im currently building one of these myself and will dual boot os x and windows on separate ssd

premiere pro is very good though and you will get a good build for that price. i think they have just added support for the r9 290/290x video cards in the latest update as well, those cards should demolish anything you throw at them. i plan on adding the 290 to my own build in the coming weeks
