How easy is it to use your 14 day cool off period?
Do you just call up and cancel and get refunded. Do you have to have a specific reason to cancel?

i would say depends on insurance company T&Cs. They create the amount of the hoops you have to jump through. So best to have a good read of them

My wife used it last week, I think they are required by law to give you the cooling off period, we cancelled as they sent out the paperwork to us with pretty much all of our details wrong on the documentation. She double checked with them by phone, all that was required was an email specifically stating that we wished to cancel and they sent us a confirmation both by email and by post and then refunded the money. Was easy enough, I believe that if you have already gotten your disc from them that you will have to send that back before they confirm cancellation.

Don't expect a full refund, the insurer can charge you on a pro-rata basis for the days you were covered plus an administration fee and you must return the full insurance certificate and the disc.

thankfully our cover hadn't started at that point plus they never mentioned the admin fee on the call so we had it refunded also...thankfully
