Volkswagon Polo - central locking unlocks of its own accord

I’m having a problem with a 2007 VW Polo – the central locking keeps unlocking randomly when the car is turned off. It then proceeds to lock/unlock itself over time while parked with the engine not running. This is intermittent and I can’t see any pattern to it happening at all. The battery has run down on two occasions as a result – the internal light was coming on when it unlocked but I have now turned this off. Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing this?

What is the condition of the battery fitted to the car? It could be a sign of a failing Comfort Control Module, but I'd suggest a plug in with VAGCOM or VCDS hardware to check functionality of said system. Should this not provide an immediate solution, the courtesy light function could be coded out in the mean time to prevent further battery drain issues.
