My sister had an interview for a waitressing job last week it consisted of half hour interview, then they asked her to work for 1.5 hours to see how she was at it, at the end they said she done great, we will be in touch to see if you got through for the second round, fine.

She got a call to say shes in the second round, you have to come in and work for one day 8.5 hours, for free and then we will decide if you got the job.

I think its silly and cheeky, my sister also found out she and 24 others got through to second round so thats 25 days of free labour the company have got, is this normal now ???

If 24 people do this, when do you know if you get the job? A month later? Sounds like BS to me.

Lots were doing it a the height of the recession. I'd suggest doing it, then if she doesn't get the job getting Citizen's Information to call them and say she has to be paid for the day's work.

Happy for your sister, but it still seems like sharp practice!
