So my husband has told me he'd like to take me away somewhere nice for my 30th, maybe have a spa treatment, spoil ourselves etc etc, which we never do. Only thing is, Ive no idea even where to start looking:confused:
We'd be going for two nights, so where would you spend two nights in Ireland????

Galway, Cork, Sligo, Mayo, Kerry, Clare? Along the coastline too, so nice views depending on where you go.

Assuming you drive, maybe Powerscourt in Wicklow?

What about a castle, depending on your budget also?

    Is going abroad an option?

    Hi,
I would go to the Monart, outside Enniscorthy. We have been there before and would go back in a heartbeat.

    Quoated from their website...
"Conde Nast who voted Monart ‘Runner-up Best Spa Retreat Worldwide’, Forbes Magazine who featured Monart as one of the top 10 destinations in the world and like the Irish Tatler who awarded Monart Ireland’s Best Destination Spa, for the fourth year in a row"

Thanks will check all those out.
Yeah we drive and foreign def option but at the min the flights seem to be working out v expensive and for 2 nights maybe we'd be a bit rushed, the sterling is so crap against the euro at the min, kinda rules out n.ire and london etc

I bought my parents a voucher for Seafield for Christmas and they loved it when they went a few weeks ago! They will definitely be going back.

    Monart is highly recommended.
Mount Juliet is wonderful, especially their restaurant, unfortunately the spa there is rubbish.

Thanks very much for all the replies.
I rang some places mentioned along with others and for two nights b&b with dinnerware ranging from 350-700e!!!! Seems very expensive to me for this time of year too.
    What do you think????

Yup, spa hotels and "spa packages" in Ireland are not a good deal. My family is in the hotel industry and these packages are basically seen as a revenue generator to subsidize other parts of the operation. Just as wine is a profit maker for restaurants.

If it was me I'd go abroad to somewhere like Paris for a long weekend. It won't cost much more and I'd personally find it more rewarding. You can fly to Paris on the Friday morning you're interested in and return to Dublin on the Monday for 100 euro on Ryanair right now. There are tons of great places on airbnb in central Paris that you can stay for about 80 euros a night, such as this one:

    https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2111803?checkin=04%2F25%2F2014&checkout=04%2F28%2F2014&guests=2&s=NJ5G

If you could afford to take two days off work and add an extra hundred or two to your budget it might be worth considering.
