    Hi

I've tried finding info myself but not finding the right information.

Please could someone summarise for me.

My mam recently passed away. I'm just wondering what my dad will lose and then what he can claim (widowers pension?)

He is 72 and was claiming for my mam (i'm not sure exactly what)

Could someone tell me what he is likely to lose but what then he can claim? We will find out officially too but just want to prepare him

    Thanks in advance

As your dad is 72 he is probably on the State Pension. If its a contributory pension the rate is €230 and he may have been claiming for his wife as a qualified adult.

Assuming its contributory, I reckon he will stay on this, as its the same rate as a Widowers pension for over 66's. He will just loose whatever he was claiming for his late wife.

Her payment may continue for 6 weeks before its stopped.

    Sorry about your mam.
Your dad or someone should ring Sligo 1890500000 to inform them of your mams death. Your dad will then get a cheque for 6 weeks of payment immediately following her death.
Is he living on his own now? If he is he can claim the living alone increase, I'm afraid its only €7.70 per week.
If his income apart from state pension is less then €100 per week he should apply for the fuel allowance.
    That's it €230.30 +€7.70 possibly €20 26 weeks per year.
